The field of neurodegenerative research is advancing at an unprecedented pace. From the recent regulatory approvals of new treatments for Alzheimer’s disease to the emergence of blood-based biomarkers as diagnostic tools, the opportunities for new areas of exploration and collaboration are endless and invigorating. That’s why the Tau Global 2025 meeting, convening in London this April, is generating so much buzz. It’s not just a conference—it’s a pivotal gathering designed to shape the future of the neurodegenerative research—and registration is open until April 24, 2025.

What Makes Tau Global 2025 Unique

Tau Global 2025 is an international summit uniting three renowned tau-focused conferences: Global Tau, EuroTau, and CurePSP Neuro. This year’s meeting will focus on all topics related to tau biology, biomarkers, and therapeutics.

The Rainwater Charitable Foundation, along with our partners CurePSP and the Alzheimer’s Association, will bring together interdisciplinary experts, facilitate meaningful dialogue, foster international collaboration, and drive action to address the most pressing issues surrounding tauopathies.

What to Expect at Tau Global 2025

With events spanning two days, the Tau Global 2025 program is packed with engaging sessions, insightful presentations, and interactive workshops. Attendees can expect to:

  • Learn From Keynote Speakers and Panel Discussions: Hear from renowned experts and thought leaders who are at the forefront of the field. Day 1 includes a session on “Revisiting Dogmas in Tau Structure and Function,” which will challenge the existing paradigms in tau research, covering topics such as tau homeostasis, enzymatic influences, and the role of different cell types in tau propagation. Also on Day 1, a session on “Emerging Approaches and Technologies,” will introduce the newest cell, organoid, and animal models, followed by “Genetic and Environmental Drivers,” which will explore socioeconomic, immunogenetics, and environmental influences on tauopathies.

On Day 2, attendees can join the “Lived Experience Panel,” a poignant discussion on the lived experience of patients and caregivers who are affected by neurodegenerative conditions. The “Global Initiatives and Observational Platforms,” session will include updates on platform trials, genetic risk studies, and global tauopathy research initiatives. A dedicated panel session on “Tools for Diagnosis, Staging, and Prognosis,” will highlight the latest breakthroughs in biomarkers, PET imaging, and novel diagnostic approaches. And finally, the “Therapeutic Strategies,” session will cover biomarker-driven drug development, antisense oligonucleotides, and next-generation anti-tau therapies.
  • Explore Poster Presentations: In addition to the interdisciplinary sessions, Tau Global 2025 will convene lightning presentations on Day 1 and Day 2, showcasing nearly 200 posters from over 20 countries and 6 continents.
  • Celebrate Our Esteemed Award Winners: A highlight of the summit will be the Rainwater Prize™ program ceremony on Day 1. This year we are honored to present Kaj Blennow, M.D., Ph.D., University of Gothenburg, with the 2025 Outstanding Innovation in Neurodegenerative Research Prize. Bess Frost, Ph.D., Brown University, will be awarded the 2025 Rainwater Prize for Innovative Early-Career Scientist. Learn more about their breakthroughs here.
  • Hear About Funding and Networking Opportunities: On Day 1, the Rainwater Charitable Foundation will unveil the topic for the 2026 Tauopathy Challenge Workshop™, an annual research program that aims to address unmet needs in the primary tauopathies. And of course, throughout the conference, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow attendees, build valuable relationships, and explore potential partnerships.

Get a Jump Start Before the Conference

Brush up on your tau knowledge before the conference by attending the Tau Primer Webinar on March 25 at 9am Central Time to discuss tau biomarkers in the context of clinical trials for primary tauopathies. Maura Malpetti, Ph.D, University of Cambridge, and Sarah de Vos, Ph.D., Curie.Bio, will be the speakers. Click here to register.
